wellness tips
Spa Montage Wellness Manager David-Dorian Ross has some recommendations to ensure that you enjoy this season of intense summer sun in health and safety:
- Drink water. Stay hydrated during warm summer days. Take bottles of water with you if you're going out for any length of time. Infants and toddlers can become dehydrated much more easily than adults, so be sure that they also get lots of liquids.
- Watch air quality. Watch the air quality report for the day, especially if you have asthma or other respiratory challenges. Limit your time outdoors on days that have moderate to poor air quality outlooks.
- Choose the right shoes. Wear the appropriate shoes for your outdoor activities. If you're planning to walk or participate in sports activities, opt for a good pair of walking or athletic shoes with a pair of comfy cotton socks instead of stylish sandals. You'll avoid blisters and sprains.
- Take a rest. Pace yourself, don't push yourself beyond your physical limits, especially in warmer weather. At regular intervals, stop and sit in a shady spot (and drink your water).
- Take cover. Sunburn is painful and unhealthy. Use a good sunscreen, and apply it frequently during the day. Also, wear a hat to keep cool and shaded.
